Bengaluru, Jun 21: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, D K Shivakumar, reportedly wants to give a new touch to the present organizational structure of the state Congress. He also wants to redraw the list of the office bearers of the organization in order to lend vibrancy to the party and obtain approval of the leaders for the same. He also expects the party high command to give a clear message about the next Congress chief ministerial candidate.
Shivakumar also wants to give a new shape to the party's organization in an effort to win back the popularity and faith of the people. Appointment of district presidents and office bearers is an important aspect of refurbishing the party organization. However, because of Covid lockdown this could not be conducted. Now Shivakumar is learnt to have taken with him a list of new office bearers. He will meet former AICC president, Rahul Gandhi, state Congress in-charge, Randeep Singh Surjewala and other leaders.
Shivakumar wants to impress upon the national leaders about the need for enthusiastic leaders in order to fight the coming assembly election effectively. He also plans to raise the topic of repeated statements issued by Siddaramaiah loyalists that the former chief minister will be the next chief minister of Karnataka. He feels that this does not serve the party's proposals and to face the election collectively. He also wants to prune down the jumbo list of the KPCC, as most of the members are inactive. He wants to shorten the list by dropping people who are not active. At the same time, he feels that Mohammed Nalapad, who secured highest votes in the state youth Congress presidential election, faced injustice as he was made ineligible on account of technical grounds. He plans to pressurize the leaders to approve his election.
