Dark days of Emergency can never be forgotten: Modi

New Delhi, Jun 25 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said dark days of Emergency can never be forgotten and remembered how systematic destruction of institutions took place between 1975 and 1977.

On the 46th anniversary of Emergency, Prime Minister Modi tweeted, "The Dark Days Of Emergency can never be forgotten. The period from 1975 to 1977 witnessed a systematic destruction of institutions. Let us pledge to do everything possible to strengthen India's democratic spirit, and live up to the values enshrined in our Constitution."

The Prime Minister remembered all those greats who resisted the Emergency.

In another tweet, the Prime Minister said, "This is how Congress trampled over our democratic ethos. We remember all those greats who resisted the Emergency and protected Indian democracy..."

iron lady and the highest gutsy person who ruled this country is Indira Gandhi. She had the guts to declare emergency to keep the third rated chaddis in control.. What you are doing? you are not declaring emergency but gagged the press and conducting raids on all opposition leaders and putting in prison people like Fr stan..you are more cheaper than Mrs Gandhi.. In India no one will every rise to the stature of late Mrs Indira Gandhi..she put India on the world map..

Since last seven years; everyday is emergency. At least previous emergency was for a shorter period. Come on..if you waste your time in digging old graves you will get bones. Better work on future development instead of wasting on past time. Old history is available in Google and new generation is good in surfing and understanding.

Emergency was about 45 years back. Assuming it affected people who were 15 years of age, they would be above 60 now if they are still alive. This is less than 8% of our population. So only 8% of our population experience emergency in real terms whereas rest of them only heard stories from those 8%. Now these 8% are probably nicely spread across in terms of their political affiliations and will have different stories to tell - Ulidavaru Kandante. Modi should get over this and think about what stories people are going to tell about dark days of his regime in the country.

The difference between 1975 emergency and the present emergency like situation since 2014 is during 1975 emergency GDP was going up, increase in employment, people were more productive with hardwork, paying taxes, law biding and less civilian court cases. There was perfect law and order and country was in progress mode. But since 2014 emergency like situation period and continuing its all negative of 1975 and total collapse of governance with full of corruptions, crimes and scams starting from the administration itself.

What is currently going on is 'Undeclared Emergency" and it is worse than the emergency of the70's. Those days people still were living. Now people are suffocating and dying. By the way...the dead bodies on the banks of Ganga have begun floating again after rains. Please arrange to hide and cover them up.

Now what have you been doing to the constitution?????…. After 2014 it’s everyday emergency and getting worse everyday. Don’t talk as if you are a ardent follower of democracy and constitution by faking your argument. If you respect and follow the constitution of india then talk for it otherwise have guts to tell the truth as it’s very evident by your anti democratic deeds.
