Mangaluru: Yellow alert sounded in coastal districts from June 29 to July 1

Mangaluru, Jun 27: Yellow alert has been sounded in various places of Karnataka including the coastal districts from June 29 to July 1 with heavy rains being predicted by the meteorological department.

The twin districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi received good rains on Saturday June 26. In Mangaluru city there was sunshine on the morning of Saturday and rains started in the afternoon, followed by intermittent rain till night.

Artificial floods were seen in low lying areas. Intermittent rains showered in Sullia, Subramanya, Kadaba, Panja, Guthigar, Puttur, Uppinangady, Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Madyantharu, Punjalakatte, Bantwal, B C Road, Kalladka, Suratkal and Ullal.

In Udupi continuous rains showered throughout Saturday. Intermittent rains were reported from the taluks of Kundapur, Karkala and Byndoor. Sea erosion was seen at Kadipatna of Padubidri. Many coconut trees got washed away into the sea.
