Palestine calls for int'l sanctions against Israel

Ramallah, Jun 27 (IANS): Palestine has called for imposing international sanctions against Israel to stop its policies against the Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday that it supports an Amnesty International report issued on June 24 saying Israeli security forces committed violations against the Palestinians, reports Xinhua news agency.

"Israel doesn't care about reports issued by credible international organizations like Amnesty International, which considers Israeli practices the most heinous forms of racial discrimination against the Palestinians," the Ministry statement said.

The statement also slammed the US and the European Union for not exerting serious pressure on the Israeli government to stop its practices against the Palestinians.

On June 24, the Amnesty International report said that Israeli police carried out "a catalogue of violations against Palestinians across Israel and occupied East Jerusalem".

The report said the violations included "unlawful force against peaceful protesters, sweeping mass arrest and subjecting detainees to torture and other ill-treatment".

There has been no immediate response from Israeli police to the Amnesty International report.

Palestine is in a big fix. Earlier they got millions of dollars in donation from other countries as aid. Yasser ARaffat and Abbas built huge mansions and the other leader enjoyed as well. Now the current leadership is missing this. Most of the countries are Israel friendly now. The ones who are not like Pakistan etc have their own arxe to take care off. So its now upto Palestine to be self reliant. So all this drama. Lebanon in the 80s helped Palestine and its supporting Hamas on humanitarian grounds .Look where Lebanon is today.

Palestinians are in a soup. No credible support to their wailing from any quarter. Whatever little mercy the world had for them disappeared when the terrorist organisation Hamas shot rockets at the Israeli civilians. 4000 of them. Now the donors are not giving money for rebuilding. They want the guarantee from the Palestinians that no more rockets will be fired at Israel.

Mohammed, Mangalore What you said is very true but should be read vice versa to get the true meaning. History is not going to change and Israel is there to stay. Don't rewrite the ancient history of Israel and Palestine. Here it's the classic example of pot calling kettle black.

Mohd., Mangalore You must read true history of Israel and Palestine before commenting your cooked story. Israel for Isralites, nobody can snatch it. Palestinians cannot test Israel's patience. If they play with fire, they would get hurt. They tried by sending drones into israel and the rest is history.
