Mangaluru: Man goes to hospital to get blood pressure level checked, dies of cardiac arrest

Mangaluru, Jun 28: A 31-year-old man, who went to the hospital along with his friends to check his blood pressure (BP) level, died of cardiac arrest here on Monday June 28.

The deceased is identified as Rajesh Rao, a resident of the Ashraya colony in Kumpala.

It is said that Rajesh was suffering from blood pressure issues. He had visited a private hospital in Deralakatte on Friday. The doctor there had advised him to visit even on Monday. Rajesh's friends Prakash and Shailesh took him to the private hospital on Monday as advised. Rajesh himself had driven the car to the hospital. While the doctor was checking his blood pressure, Rajesh collapsed in front of his friends.

The deceased is survived by father, mother and sister. Rajesh was running an auto-rickshaw and was an active member of Hindu Jagarana Vedike. He was involved in pro-social works.

    Checking Bp with tight band in the arm can cause a cardiac arrest or stroke. Probably same would have happened here.

    Shocking .He drove self to hospital and by checking he collapsed ?And doctor did nothing?Could have given cardiac massage ,or electro schock to save him oxygen was not given?Very bad.He should have gone long back to treat himself.May be it was too much for him self to drive there .Men mostly at this age with lot of responsibility tension get heart attack.He must have neglected thinking will come down ?Or any kidney ailments too have high pressure.In hot weather too many get heartattack.Heartfelt sympathies to his family.

    I heard ECG would have fixed his problem. Early detection is important. If there is any variation in heart beat. Some advanced wrist watches have these features to notify its users about heart beat anomalies

    sri-elder karkala ,they had even no time to check his BP even I suppose .He collapsed as BP checking.Even to check ECG too one has to fix electrodes on body ,takes time as much as BP check ,a bit more.Most probably already had attack on the way,and each step walking or climbing steps make it more stress to heart.Very very sad.RIP.All these modern digital watches are ok,but decide it only by doctor ,under which circumstances it was.But not as diagnose.Only as warning .

    15 years back, my doctor advised me, as a precaution to my BP, to have very good sound sleep for 7 to 8 hours, less salt, boiled veg, curry fish, raw green banana as veg, walking minimum 45 minutes , light exercise , eat at regular intervals, every 3 to 4 hours, and BIG NO to all milk products and alcohol.
