RT-PCR test mandatory for people traveling from Kerala to Dakshina Kannada: DC Dr Rajendra

Mangaluru, Jun 28: The district deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra on Monday, June 28 said that the travellers coming from Kerala to the district should mandatorily possess negative RT-PCR test reports.

"As per the guidance of the state government and suspected delta variant cases traced in Kerala, the government has asked to take precautionary measures on borders connecting Kerala and Karnataka. Therefore, checkposts that will function 24/7 will be set up in Talapady, Nettanigemudnoor, Saradka, Jalsoor. We will set up additional checkposts on entry places to Kerala under the limits of various gram panchayats," he said.

As the people in Kasargod district are interdependent on Dakshina Kannada for medical facilities, the patients while coming to the district should compulsorily carry a negative RT-PCR test report. We have also set up swab collection centres in the checkposts. People should avoid unnecessary travelling and officials have been asked to take preventive measures to contain the third wave of coronavirus," the DC said.

    It is good to see that all possible precautions are taken to safeguard the interests of people. JUST A THOUGHT. Kerala is on the border of Karnataka and it expedient that precautions are taken. I have a thought and feeling that people from any other States coming to Karnataka should be screened. Of course this is only a suggestion because the other borders are coming under the jurisdiction of other authorities.

    The only talent of our DK commisioner is declaring curfew and lockdowns at the drop of hat. The cases in DK is due to people of other districts of karntaka who admit in hospitals here.

    completely nonsensical and impractical decision. so regular tavellers need to get a test every few days - it is feasible if DK DC organises and pays for these tests.

    Dk and Udupi get their ENTIRE oxygen supply from Kerala also Kerala is a cash cow for educational institutions and medical institutions AND land prices don't kill the hen that lays the golden egg.

    Sir, i dont think u know the ground reality. There are thousands of people living across the border who come to the city and vice versa almost everyday. Already this issue had created confusion and mayhem twice before , and the administration had to withdraw the checks at border. So plz , dont make a mockery out of all this. Please focus on improving the health infrastructure, making free vaccine available in abundance ( more than the paid vaccines ) and let normalcy return

    You are correct. If each individual practises covid appropriate behaviour, then no need of RT-PCR. Evenif one is tested negative, in public places it is mandatory to keep social distance and wearing face mask. Then why RT-PCR?

    And the validity period for such a test to enable free movement from one state to another ... example, Karnataka to Maharashtra by air, rail or road transport?
