Himachal resumes interstate operation of buses


Shimla, Jul 1 (IANS): After over a month and a half of suspension, the state-run Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) resumed its interstate operations, including luxury buses, on Thursday.

The public transport was suspended on May 10 with the imposition of statewide restrictions to check the spread of Covid-19.

An official statement quoting Transport Minister Bikram Singh said to facilitate the people 317 interstate buses started.

Out of these, 15 would be Volvo buses, four deluxe and 298 ordinary buses. Covid-19 protocols would be ensured in the buses.

The routes on which the buses have started include Delhi, Chandigarh, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Ambala, among others.

Earlier, HRTC resumed operations on June 14 on 1,226 intrastate routes.
