Mangalore, Sep 6: The Orchid Art Gallery in Balmatta hosted the debut solo art exhibition by Sapna Noronha on Monday September 6.
Speaking to Daijiworld, she expressed joy at the realization of her dream after nearly 15 years of waiting. “Art and literature are both closely linked with life. Art expresses life with colours, nature, and objects of nature while literature does it with words. Words may have a limited capacity to convey the experience, but not art,” said Sapna about her first art show.
In addition, she said that the interpretation of art may differ from person to person according to their experiences in life.
For her art is a powerful flow of emotional experiences of life. Art for her is meditation, prayer, and achieving a sense of peace.
Talking about the present situation of the artists in the city, Sapna said that work done with sincerity, effort, and originality will surely attract people and their appreciation of art. She said that the future of artists is promising. “People in the city are receptive to art,” she added.
Sapna developed her art by observing nature and practicing under the able guidance of B J Mohammad. She is grateful to many people for their encouragement.
William Pais, owner, Orchid Art Gallery, said that appreciation of art has improved since the start of the gallery four years ago. “Art is a powerful symbol of nature and inspiration,” he added.
P M Razak, management director, Plama Builders, in his inaugural speech, said, “One who appreciates life appreciates art. Painting is an international language.”
