Bangalore: Yeddyurappa Denies Violation of Poll Code


Bangalore, Sep 6 (PTI): Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today told the Election Commission that he had not violated the poll code for the September 13 bypolls to Gulbarga South and Kadur assembly constituencies in the state.

In his reply to the EC's notice that he violated the poll code by promising to include Adi-Banajiga community under backward classes Group 2A for providing reservation, he said his statment has been "misquoted" by a few newspapers.

Yeddyurappa said while he was in Hubli, he received a representation for including the community under Group 2A and he only said that after obtaining the report of the Backward Classes Commission, it would be placed before the cabinet for taking appropriate decision.

"I am aware aware of the provisions of code of conduct. I have not violated any of the same", he said in his reply. The EC had on September four had slapped a notice on yeddyurappa seeking his reply by today.
