Mumbai, Sep 7: Karnataka primary and secondary minister Vishweshvara Hegde Kageri inaugurated Chinnara Bimba cultural extravaganza held at Dr M Visvesvaraya auditorium of Karnataka Sangh, Matunga (West) here, recently.
Karnataka Sangh president Dr G D Joshi presided. Mumbai Pradesh BJP president MLA Gopal C Shetty, Mumbai University head of the department Dr G N Upadhya, Bunts Sangh vice-president chartered accountant Shanker B Shetty, International Kabaddi Federation Maharashtra chief executive officer Jaya A Shetty and professor Sitaram R Shetty were the guests of honour.
Jaya A Shetty offered motion for Tulunadu sports meet, by hitting tennis ball to the stacked dices of Lagori, a distinct Tulunadu game.
In his inaugural address, minister Kageri Vishweshwar Hegde said that the cultural extravaganza organized in the metro convey the strong cultural ties among the natives of undivided Dakshina Kannada district, who are settled in the metro.
Minister Hegde assured that he would make his earnest efforts in granting recognition to all Kannadiga organizations across the country, who promote Kannada and its distinct culture.
The cultural extravaganza was held under the leadership of Mumbai Pradesh BJP leader L V Amin, Suresh Shetty, renowned playwright Sa Daya (Dayanand Salian), Karnataka Malla, Kannada daily editor Chandrashekar Palettady, Renuka Prakash Bhandary, Krishnaraj Shetty, Mala Shetty, Hema Shetty, Karnoor Mohan Rai, Mohan Marnad, Petri Vishwanath Shetty, Bhaskar Sarapady and Ramesh Rai among others.
In his introductory address, Chinnara Bimba promotor Prakash B Bhandary said that Chinnara Bimba, children’s troupe ranks first outside Karnataka, which has trained over 4,000 children through many camps in metro.
Bhandary urged the Karnataka state administration to award recognition to Chinnara Bimba for their yeomen service in promoting Kannada culture and identifying inherent talent among children to excel in folklore.
Professor Sitaram Shetty said that the language survives with culture. Despite difficulty to learn Kannada in other states by the children, the love for state language should take precedence by organizing classes.
Chinnara Bimba co-promoter Pooja Prakash Bhandary was felicitated for the valuable 8 years of service in nurturing the children’s troupe. She will be proceeding to UK for higher studies shortly.
Chinnara Bimba founder president Pooja Prakash Bhandary welcomed the gathering. Karnoor Mohan Rai, Sushmita Kulkarni, Ravi Hegde, Grishma Shetty and Prajwal Shetty introduced the guests. Satish Salian Vikhroli explained the activities of Chinnara Bimba. Balakrishna Shetty Adyapady proposed the vote of thanks. Executive president Nayana Prakash Bhandary, Apeksha Shetty and Chirag Shetty compered the programme.
