Kasargod, Sep 7: The personnel of Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Sudhakar Master (40), Kumble area secretary of CPM, Nadubail Abdulla Kunhi (44), CPM Enmakaje unit leader, and Basheer (29), a hired killer from Paivalike, for their involvement with the murder of Abdul Jabbar (28), Perla Youth Congress secretary, on Monday September 6.

Jabbar had been murdered on November 3 last year while moving in a Tata Indica car, by a gang of five persons, who came in a car, intercepted Jabbar’s vehicle and hit him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, killing him on the spot. Jabbar had been stabbed 52 times. The murder had occurred on the day the engagement of Jabbar’s sister was to take place.
The incident had given rise to widespread denouncement, as it was clear that it was backed by political enmity. Immediately after the murder, the policemen of Badiyadka station had arrested four persons including Neelagiri Moidu from B C Road. Three of them were found to be innocent later. As Jabbar’s father was not satisfied with the progress of the police investigation, he had approached the state High Court, praying for directions to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Once the prayer was granted, the CBI acted swiftly, arresting Aziz from Paivalike village, and collecting full details of the murder from him.
Kittu (30) and Radhakrishna (30) had been arrested by the CBI last week. Both are reportedly hired killers.
Sudhakar Master, a teacher working in a school in Kalattur, holds an important position in the district CPM. Reportedly, he nurtured hatred and jealousy at the meteoric rise of Jabbar as a Congress leader, and planned to execute him. Nadubail Abdullla Kunhi provided finance for the murder. Kunhi had escaped to the Gulf, but the CBI, through a well-crafted plan, made him return to his native place.
The CBI is likely to recommend action against Badiyadka sub-inspector of police, Sibi Thomas, and Kasargod circle inspector, Premkumar, as their role in trying to shield the culprits has been proved. The policemen, immediately after the preliminary arrests, had issued press statements alleging that sand mafia was involved with Jabbar’s murder.
After the mother of Jabbar was killed in a road accident several years ago, he used to live with his two sisters at Nadka. Due to his organizational skills and sincerity, he had emerged as a prospective youth leader of Congress party within a short period.
