M'luru: Pilgrims from Kerala without RT-PCR report to undergo rapid test – DC Dr K V Rajendra

Mangaluru, Jul 3: Manjeshwar MLA AKM Ashraf visited the district deputy commissioner, Dr K V Rajendra and held discussions concerning the rule that pilgrims travelling from Kerala to Mangaluru must have an negative RT-PCR test report.

As the cases with Delta variant is reported in Kerala, there are strict inspections at the border. The MLA further stated that the deputy commissioner has assured him that the pilgrims will not be harassed in the name of inspections. Though there is a rule that a neagtive RT-PCR test report which is no older than 72 hours is a must to cross the border, rapid antigen tests are being arranged on the border for pilgrims who do not have the report.

“Precautions will be taken to prevent issues that were faced by people of Kerala the last time around. I have a good rapport with people from Kerala as I had received my training at Thiruvananthapuram,” said the DC to MLA Ashraf.

    what pilgrimage is possible now with lock-down restrictions and places of worship closed... it should not so happen that drug peddlers and other rogues enter KN under the guise of pilgrims...

    it is better to subject them all to rapid test, given their track record, all the so called 'negative rt-pcr report' might turn out to be fake/forged/fabricated...
