Mumbai, Sep 7 (IANS) Britain Tuesday invited Indian banks, financial and insurance firms to set up businesses in the country.
"We want to attract the best of global finance to London,"
Britain's Commercial Secretary to the Treasury Lord James Sassoon said here Tuesday.
As a global hub for banking and financial services, London offers access to other European markets, Sassoon said at a meeting organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Indian Banks Association.
He also launched a financial services guide, "Setting up a Financial Services Firm in the UK", in response to the interest shown by Indian banks and financial firms, which are looking to set up operations in Britain.
Sassoon pointed out that opportunities for Indian financial services firms in Britain will be more if these are linked to other businesses.
Britain is already home to nine Indian banks and the Exim Bank is due to join soon, he said.
