RLD focuses on youth for 2022 UP Assembly polls

Lucknow, Jul 5 (IANS): Under the leadership of its new president Jayant Chaudhary, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) will now go into the next Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh with the slogan "Har booth, Jitega youth".

The party will now firmly focus on youth and farmers for its political revival in the state.

"We are preserving the legacy of late Chaudhary Charan Singh and late Chaudhary Ajit Singh but at the same time, we are looking towards the youth which now form the majority of the population. Under the leadership of Jayant Chaudhary, the party is gaining popularity among the youth," said RLD national secretary Anil Dubey.

"Many senior people from other political parties are joining RLD. While the joining of established leaders is establishing the political direction of the party, it is also necessary to strengthen the party at the booth level if we have to fight against anti-farmers and anti-development forces. The youth can play an important role in this battle," he said.

Party sources said that Jayant Chaudhary, who took over the reins of the party in May following the demise of his father, Chaudhary Ajit Singh due to Covid, has set up the election committee headed by Pravin Kumar Singh.

He has directed the committee to appoint district coordinators whose task will be to ensure coordination between the district units and the frontal organization.

The RLD has received a fresh lease of life, following the farmers' agitation in which Jayant Chaudhary has been an active participant.

The farmers too have responded positively to RLD's involvement and this has already given a fillip to the party which has won the zila panchayat seat in Baghpat, once considered the RLD bastion.
