Udupi: Minister Dr V S Acharya Offers Bhagina to Swarna River, Lifeline of Coastal District

Udupi, Sep 8: Home and district-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya offered Bhagina to Swarna Rive at nearby Siddi Vinayaka temple, here on Tuesday September 7 morning.  It was organized in association with district administration, town council and Sri Siddi Vinayaka temple.

Its significant that Swarna River originates in the Western Ghat irrigates several thousand hectares of farmlands in the coastal district besides provides drinking water to the people living in 35 wards of city and 20 villages in the district before it joins the Arabian Sea.

Deputy commissioner Hemalata P, superintendent of police Praveen Madhukar Pawar, MLA Raghupati Bhat, zilla panchayat CEO Rajashekar, taluk panchayat EO Manjunatayya, Urban Development Authority chairman Sudhakar Shetty, municipal commissioner Ramanand Nayak, town council vice president Bharati Chandrashekar, members Ramesh Nayak and Sandhya Nayak, Perampalli parish priest Fr Romeo Lewis, Vasudev Bhat, Bhuvanendra Kidiyoor, Raghavendra Acharya, Dr Ni Bi Vijay Ballal, Tahsildar Prasanna, Padigar Srinivas Tantri, Padmanabha Acharya, Krishnamurti Shivattaya, Madhusudan Shivattaya and Harikrishna Shivattaya among others were present.
