Bengaluru: Siddaramaiah ends speculations, to contest from Badami

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 7: Leader of the opposition and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, under pressure from fans and party workers, has decided to again contest the assembly election from Badami constituency. He made this announcement, although he had scraped through last time in Badami constituency with a thin margin.

There had been rumours about Siddaramaiah fighting the election from Chamarajpet Bengaluru constituency. Current legislator Zameer Ahmed, had requested Siddaramaiah to fight the next election from his constituency. Siddaramaiah, as if he had agreed to the proposal, had proudly claimed to be the son-in-law of Chamarajpet.

Hundreds of party workers and fans of Siddaramaiah from Badami came together in front of Siddaramaiah's residence near Kumara Kripa Bengaluru on Tuesday July 6. They insisted that Siddaramaiah should fight the next election from Badami constituency and wanted confirmation from him about this. They said they would not budge from the spot unless he gives concrete assurance. "He may be the son-in-law of Chamarajpet. But he should not forget that he is the son of Goddess Banashankari," his fans, who were charged with emotions, stated. They also raised slogans hailing Siddaramaiah as the next chief minister.

Speaking in response to their request, Siddaramaiah assured them that he will contest the net election form Badami constituency. He said that he had confirmed this fact even inside the assembly, and had never said that he would choose some other constituency. "Last time, I was defeated by leaders who joined together to settle scores with me in Chamundeshwari constituency. But the people of Badami made me victorious. So I owe a huge debt to the people of Badami," he said.

Last time Siddu was booted out of his decades old bastion Chamundeshwari and had to flee to Badami to win on Muslim votes. So I wonder how he is the contender for the CM seat when his own backyard has rejected him. ? What image of the party does this move reflect ? Such candidates are only liabilities to the party. Why doesnt the Congress field in youngsters who can secure the future of the party?. Why do we have Ramu Kaakas with outdated ideas and strategies ruin the Grand old party. I simply cannot fathom this. Its time to learn from the Opposition who fields younger candidates who connect with people and they rout the oldies of Congress comprehensively. You cannot keep on blaming EVM for long.

More than a revival , its now a survival in politics. At the end, Cong has to depend on muslim votes for victory. RaGa to Siddha to Khader. The new generation of voters cannot relate to these strategies.

Mr, Siddu , you are sending wrong signals to the party cadres. Why dont you contest from your own backyard Chamundeshwari????? You were contesting from there for decades. Sounds like a RaGa - Amethi -Waynad fiasco. This is just survival not a Congress revival.

Ideally Siddu should contest from Ullala, safe seat because of high density of minority votes. Only they can save him

What wrong has Khadar saab did to you? You think Khadar saab will win from anywhere else? Anyways, this time I suggest Sidhu to contest from three seats!
