Lucknow, Jul 9: In a shocking incident, a video which went viral on social media of the saree of a woman pulled by two men in public.
In Uttar Pradesh nominations are being filed for local polls. The shameful act occurred at Lakhimpur Kheri, 130 km from here. The woman, who is manhandled by two men is the proposed candidate of the Samajwadi Party.
The two men who tried to manhandle the woman are said to be from the opposition party. They were preventing her from entering the nomination center for block panchayat polls. In addition, they also snatched the nomination papers from the woman.
“Power hungry goons of Yogi Adityanath (CM),” said Akhilesh Yadav. He accused that the men were workers of BJP. This is not an isolated incident. Several incidents of manhandling and threatening of non-BJP candidates is reported from more than a dozen constituencies during filing of nominations for the polling that will be held on Saturday for 825 block pramukh or local panchayat leaders.
Another video of a similar kind of violence was posted by Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. She attacked PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.
Referring to epic Mahabharata, Priyanka tweeted in Hindi, which translates into “PM and CM, please congratulate your workers in UP who resorted to bombs, stones and bullets, who snatched nomination papers, beat up journalists and misbehaved with women. Law and order is blindfolded and democracy is being disrobed.”
