Mangaluru, Jul 9: The work of demolishing the central market building here has been pending for the last one and half months because of a stay order granted by the state high court.
The workers have left a water tank located at the roof that is tiling, and standing on the support of a fragile roof, as it is when stopping work. The tank now is filled with rainwater and therefore poses more risk. A few street vendors do business below the tank, and if it falls on them, they will definitely be in danger. A person who took a snap of the tank, has tried to alert the concerned to the danger posed by it.

The city corporation had started to demolish the central market building on May 26. The work went on for two days. On the third day, a stay order was issued by the high court, which brought the work to a grinding halt.
Mayor Premananda Shetty, said that the city corporation has approached the high court with a request to vacate the stay. He said that this application is likely to be examined on Friday July 9.
