July 9: Dakshina Kannada reports 209 new cases and nine deaths, Udupi adds 131

Mangaluru/Udupi, July 9: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, July 9 reported 209 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths, while Udupi reported 131 fresh cases.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,15,323 samples have been tested so far.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 95,011 out of which 2,406 are currently active. The positivity rate of district is 2.71%.

As many as 374 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.

The district recorded nine deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1299.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 96,99,867 as fine in 79,531 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,06,391 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 131 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 67,402 out of which 886 are currently active.

A total of 136 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.

Coronavirus has claimed 400 lives in the district so far.

Till now, 4,38,989 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,39,235 have received the second dose.
