Dubai Airport Welcomes 50 Millionth Passenger

Dubai, Sep 9 (IANS/WAM): Parvez Khan, an assistant manager with a hotel in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has been honoured with a rare distinction. He has become the 50 millionth passenger to pass through the world's largest airport terminal in Dubai.

Khan was welcomed Wednesday in a small ceremony organised by Dubai Airports, Emirates Airline and Dubai Duty Free at the Dubai International Emirates Terminal 3.

He was presented with a certificate and shopping vouchers worth 5,000 Arab Emirates Dirhams (AED).

"Each customer is special but welcoming the 50 millionth passenger to this terminal in less than two years of operation is an important milestone and testament to the incredible traffic growth and Dubai's commitment to deliver world-class service," an official said.

Dubai International Emirates Terminal 3 first opened its doors Oct 14, 2008. Since opening, the terminal has handled over 197,920 flights, 50 million passengers and 70 million pieces of luggage.
