Udupi, Jul 10: A case of dowry harassment and physical assault is filed at the women police station in the city by a woman accusing her husband and in-laws of the crime.
As per the details available, complainant Roshal D’Costa is married to Ashwin Correa, resident of A K Nagar, Udyavar, Kuthpady village. Hillary Correa and Annie Korea are the father-in-law and mother-in-law of the complainant respectively.
It is alleged that Roshal married Ashwin Correa at Mother of Sorrows Church in 2015 and went to live with Ashwin’s family in A K Nagar of Udyavar. Later she went to the place where her husband Ashwin works and came back and stayed with her in-laws.
Complainant Roshal has alleged that she was mentally and physically tortured by all the three accused (husband and in-laws) in order to bring more dowry. In addition, they also pledged the gold belonging to the complainant and threatened her not to file any police complaint. In addition, her husband Ashwin Correa continuously threatened Roshal, deprived her of food and sleep.
On February 20, the accused mocked the complainant and physically assaulted her. A case under IPC columns 498 A, 323, 384, 339, 504, 506 and 34 is filed in this regard in the police station for women.
