Udupi, Jul 10: The Udupi District Nagarika Samiti conducted the honorable final rites for 154 orphaned corpses who died due to corona, accidents and disease. Religious rituals such as Tilahoma and Narayana Bali were conducted at the Yagya Hall of the Shree Siddhivinayaka Temple at Perampalli. All the programmes were conducted under the guidance of social worker Nithyananda Volakadu. The embryos were offered in the Krishnangaraka of Suvarna River.
ADC B Sadashiva Prabhu was present at the end of the programme. "Nagarika Samiti, has rescued the people who were lying by the roadside without any caretakers, they have even hospitalized them and given treatment to them," he said. Prabhu appreciated the efforts of the committee who performed the honorable final rites to the dead orphans.
Vishwanath Shetty Amasebailu, investigative assistant of the town police station, Murlidhar Ballal and Swati M Ballal, Lakshmi M Ballal, Taranath Mesta Shirur, K Bal Gangadhar Rao, Padigar Muralidhar Rao, Ganesh Raj Sarlabettu, Ramdas Palan, Susheela Rao Udupi and others were present.
