Thaawarchand Gehlot formally sworn in as Karnataka Governor

Bengaluru, Jul 11: The newly appointed Governor of Karnataka, Thaawarchand Gehlot, was formally sworn in by State High Court Chief Justice Abhay Srinivas Oka at Raj Bhavan on Sunday July 11 morning.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who attended the swearing in ceremony at Raj Bhavan, extended his cordial greetings to the new Governor.

The Chief Minister also greeted the outgoing governor Vajubhai Vala, who was also present at the swearing in ceremony.

Deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwat Narayan also met and greeted the new Governor.

Gehlot is the 19th Governor of Karnataka. He is also the first leader from Madhya Pradesh to become Governor of this state.

Prior to his elevation to gubernatorial position, he was serving as Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment from 2014 to 2021. He was also the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha. Besides a member of BJP's top most decision making body - Parliamentary Board and also the Central Election Committee of the party.

    people with good administrative judgement and knowledge of constitution should be appointed as governors... old and discarded politicians can be sent to nagpur for retired life or placed on Marg Darshak Mandal...

    Governorship ..more of a relic of the British Raj Earlier more ceremonial .. Has now become political tool Has sort of worsened in last years .. All known political background and affiliation are unhesitatingly appointed governors.. ... Earlier exemplary and eminent persons were appointed as governors Sad state of affairs ..
