Dakshina Kannada reports 225 new Covid cases, 10 deaths; Udupi reports 105 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 16: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, July 16 reported 225 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of positive cases to 96,440. The positivity rate of the district is 3.14%.

As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,64,442 samples have been tested, of which 10,68,002 are negative.

There are currently 1,967 active cases in the district.

As many as 208 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday and raising the number of recoveries to 93,116.

The district recorded 10 deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,357.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 98,45,667 in fines for 80,786 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 7,29,017 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 105 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 68,104 out of which 902 are currently active.

A total of 147 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday, taking the total recoveries to 66,799.

Coronavirus has claimed 403 lives in the district so far.

4,58,381 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,58,125 have received the second dose.

    They way of unlocking from karnataka govt was not good...Gradual unlock can decrease the cases.....100% occupancy for all the sectors was not right decision

    I am very disappointed to see this evidence of sustained transmission of SARS CoV2 virus in my district. Ignore the rest of state, I don't want to compare us with Bangalore or Mysore or Dharwad. We were supposed to be the most educated, intelligent, forward thinking district in the state. Then why are we struggling to contain this pandemic? Are we so dependent on state machinery to tell us what to do and what not to? When will be learn to take personal responsibility? All that you need is face cover, 2meter social distancing and frequent hand hygiene. I heard that the police, PHCs and health visitors are doing good job, spreading awareness about the disease and protecting the vulnerable ones in the society. This level of sustained transmission will only lead to more mutation, vaccine failure and even more cases and deaths. Wake up people, wake up.

    No need to panic.Just wear mask,practice social distancing and get vaccinated to avoid covid while going out. Early treatment and proper treatment can save lives or avoid deaths,if patients get the symptoms from day 1...Please try to do trials for anti viral medicines like 2 dg and ivermectin which will help to save the lives..Please try to do trials for nasal vaccine ASAP which will help to prevent covid transmission..

    In spite of Karnataka's 31 districts recording 1806 cases, the cases hovering at Bangalore at 411 and Mangalore at 225 are still worrisome. I think people of both districts are taking the seriousness of the pandemic very lightly.
