Puttur: Heavy rains cause landslip, train service disrupted

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (DV)

Puttur, Jul 18: Train service was disrupted following landslip due to heavy rains at Veerakamba Gadipila here on Sunday July 18.

The landslip occured while the train was moving on the Kabaka-Subramanya railway track.

As a result, the train guard sustained damage.

Railway officials rushed to the spot and started clearing the track.

The district has been receiving torrential rainfall for the last few days, causing widespread damage. Earlier this week, train services were disrupted after a landslide near Kulshekar.

Yes I know. I was due to catch Karwar-Bangalore Train on Friday. Only on reaching the railway station was I informed that the train was cancelled. I was not informed via sms message. There were several hundreds like me who were in similar situation. Like me, they booked bus tickets at last minute for Bangalore. But, bad luck again, in Shiradi Ghat there was an accident and caused delay of 4.5 hours.
