Sullia, Sep 13: Dushyant (19), son of M K Jnanamurty from Malligere in Mandya, who was an engineering college student in Bangalore, drowned in Payasvini river next to the hanging bridge in Aramboor near here on Sunday September 12. He had come to take part in Ganesha festival at his uncle’s house located in the town.
Dushyant, along with his sister, had come to the house of M K Sridhar, a lecturer in KVG Polytechnic here. Dushyant was accompanied by his uncle, Sridhar, his daughter, and Dushyant’s sister, to the river bank. Dushyant, who entered the river to take a bath, was washed away due to sudden undercurrent. Sridhar’s efforts to save the boy failed.
A search operation for the body of the student was launched with the help of expert divers, but the divers could not find the body till late evening on Sunday.
