Shimoga: ‘MLA is Free to Choose His Path’ – Eshwarppa

Daijiworld Media Network – Shimoga (SP)

Shimoga, Sep 13: Taking umbrage to the threat posed by MLA from Sagar constituency in the district, Belur Gopalakrishna, to choose his own path if he is not given ministerial berth during the coming cabinet reshuffle, state BJP president, K S Eshwarappa, has advised the MLA to go ahead and choose options which he finds suitable.

Belur Gopalakrishna has been quite vocal in demanding a berth for himself in the state ministry, after his rival, Halappa, a first time MLA from neighbouring Sorab constituency, succeeded in becoming a minister. He had recently threatened to consider alternative options if he is not made a minister.

“None of the legislators from the state including me have won their seats on their own. They have won by riding on the popularity of the party, organizational set up of the party and hard work of the party activists. It would be imprudent to behave in an undisciplined way just to bag a post. The people in Sagar constituency have been hurt by the behaviour of the MLA. Belur should stop issuing open statements like this and choose alternative options that he might find right,” Eshwarappa said in a terse response.

Eshwarappa also welcomed the resignation tendered to his post by medical education minister, Ramachandra Gowda. “The minister has done the right thing by resigning, as his continuance in spite of controversy, would have embarrassed the government,” he added.
