Kalaburagi, Jul 20: A man of Hyderabad origin who was in the possession of the police relating to theft of mobile phone, died in M B Nagar police station here on Monday July 19. There is suspicion that this could be lockup death.
Chandru (30) from Hyderabad, who was living in Pooja Colony here was arrested by the police when he was stealing mobile phones on the highway. He had become very sick in the police station. He died when being taken to the hospital. His accomplice, named Mahesh, succeeded in fleeing.
The doctors confirmed that Chandru had died before he was brought to the hospital. In this backdrop, a case was registered and investigation has been ordered.
