Mangalore, Sep 14: Two persons, who had recently been admitted into a hospital here because of injuries sustained by them due to a LPG cylinder blast, lost their lives on Monday September 13. They have been identified as Basheer (25), son of Hasainar from Adoor Chedimoole in Kasargod district, and Raju (35), a native of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.

A gas cylinder had gone off in the business premises of Hamid, a sub agent for LPG in Kasargod, on September 9. After leakage was observed in one of the cylinders stored in the shop, the cylinder had been emptied. When a spark was ignited to test the presence of gas, the cylinder had exploded, critically injuring Basheer and Raju, who were in the vicinity at the time. They had been immediately rushed to a hospital here.

Raju,a rubber tapper since the last twenty years, had lost his wife three months ago. He is survived by two children, both of whom are students of Adoor government school.
