Bangalore, Sep 14: The fifth fast track court here dismissed the bail application moved by Abdul Nasser Madani, leader of People’s Democratic Party, who has been charged with being involved with serial blasts in the city during the year 2008, on Monday September 13.

Fast track court judge, Srikant Vatavati, who heard the bail petition, rejected the bail petition. Through a 30-page judgment, the judge observed that as per law, an accused who has been charged with being involved with illegal activities which pose a threat to the safety and security of the nation, cannot be granted bail. He said it would be imprudent to grant bail, at a time when the investigation is in progress, concurring with the arguments placed by the public prosecutor and relying on the documents placed before the court by him.

Reportedly, a document recovered from the house of Sarfraz Nawaz, fourth accused in the serial blasts case, was relied upon while rejecting Madani's bail petition. During the investigation, a printed pamphlet found in his house, on which 'Jehad' had been written across a picture of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya with the quote, 'we will achieve this at any cost', had been recovered from the house of the above acused. It also came to light that this pamphlet had been printed in a press owned by Nasser Madani.

Advocate for Madani, P Usman, said that a bail petition will now be moved on behalf of Madani in the state High Court. He said that the judge of the court had not favourably considered various documents submitted by him in favour of the bail application. “As the judgment has favoured the public prosecutor, the bail application will be moved in the High Court,” he clarified.
