Mangalore: Renovated Kinnigoli Church Hall Inaugural Marks Community Day Celebration

Mangalore, Sep 14: The inauguration of the renovated church hall and Community Day was celebrated at Kinnigoli Church premises here on Sunday September 12.

A thanksgiving mass was offered by the parishioners as a symbol of unity and love. Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, Mulki-Moodbidri constituency inaugurated the renovated church hall. Fr Dennis Moras Prabhu, vicar
general  of Mangalore diocese presided.

Fr Gilbert D'souza, director of Small Christian Community, Mangalore diocese,  Fr Victor Pinto, retired priest of Mangalore diocese, Sr Premlatha, superior of Marywale Convent, Kinnigoli, Sr Jacintha,
superior of  Poor Sisters of Our Lady Convent, Kinnigoli and Valerian Sequeira, director of Small Christian Community, Kinnigoli parish were on the dias.

In his inaugural speech, while congratulating the parishioners for building such a beautiful and spacious hall MLA Jain said that Kinnigoli is a fast developing town which has all the modern facilities and highest NRIs and bank deposits. Expressing happiness over the various projects of the parish he promised to donate Rs 5 lac from MLA's fund to St Mary's Special School, a mega project of Kinnigoli Church sponsored by Lions Club for the mentally challenged children.

In his presidential speech Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu said that Community Day celebration should not be limited to a day, but everyday one must strive to live together by understanding one another and people in the ward. This will enable us to build a strong community and an ideal parish. He called upon the parishioners to leave aside the difference of opinion and unite for the development of the parish.

Contractor, architect, engineer and all the workers who supported to build the church hall were honoured. Donors who helped to build the hall were also honoured. Mable Dsouza, secretary of parish council
read the list of the donors.

A small cultural programme too was held by the 14 ward members of the parish highlighting  the community day's importance.

Fr Alfred Pinto welcomed the guest and the gathering. Lionel Pinto, vice-president of the parish council proposed the vote of thanks.

Vincent D'Souza and Anitha D'Souza compered the programme. Fr Micheal Mascarenhas, assistant parish priest of Kinnigoli Church, blessed the food.
