Udupi: 'Green Teacher Forum' of St Mary’s College Shirva holds tree plantation programme


Green Teacher Forum of St Mary’s College, Shirva in association with NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross, Rovers and Rangers units on Thursday July 22 organised a ‘Tree plantation Programme’ at the college premises.

Dr Herald Ivan Monis, the principal, in his presidential remarks said, "It is our duty and responsibility to protect our environment. Instead of exploiting the natural resources, we should try to plant trees and nurture them." He appreciated the support rendered by the different units of the college in this regard. He administered the pledge for ‘Tree Plantation.

The correspondent Fr Denis Alexander D’Sa graced the programme by planting a sapling. NCC officer lieutenant, K Praveen Kumar, NSS officer Raksha, Youth Red Cross unit leader, Murali, ranger leader Sangeetha Poojary, teaching and administrative staff were present and helped in planting a tree in the college premises.

Yashoda, convener of the ‘Green Teacher Forum' welcomed the gathering, Premanaatha, NSS programme officer proposed the vote of thanks and Prakasha, Rovers Scout leader compered the programme.
