Bangalore, Sep 14: The 13th edition of Bangalore mega annual IT event - Bangalore IT.biz 2010 - will be held for three days at Hotel Lalit Ashok here from October 28 to 31.
Union finance minister Pranab Kumar Mukherjee is expected to inaugurate the event and release three new policies pertaining to information communication technology, hardware and animation, according to state’s information technology and biotechnology minister Katta Subramanya Naidu .
Bangalore IT.biz 2010 is being organised by the department of IT, BT and Science & Technology; and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Bangalore.
For the second year, the government has decided to hold the event at Hotel Lalit Ashok instead of the earlier practice of holding it at the Bangalore Palace Grounds.
The Bangalore IT event is India’s most premier ICT event acknowledged internationally.
An exclusive B2B (business to business) platform for promoting partnerships and forge alliances with leading players in domestic and international markets would be organised.
Bangalore IT.biz 2010 with its core theme, “Billion Strong- Empowered by ICT,” would capture major developments sweeping the country today.
It would bring to the forefront innumerable opportunities to do business, covering new technologies and myriad applications and emerging opportunities in the ICT industry, officials explained.
The conference will be addressed by experts from ICT as well as policy makers from the Centre and leading states. It will offer opportunity for all the delegates to be better acquainted with the entire IT Eco system.
The minister said the state government will launch Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project near Devanahalli (in the vicinity of Bengaluru International Airport) by December end.
The government, with the support of the Centre, has decided to set up the ITIR on 10,000 acres with an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in two to three phases.
ITIR Act has already been gazette, Naidu said.
The first phase of the project, to be implemented in 2072 acres, would be launched in December end.
It would be an integrated information technology (IT) city with all physical and social infrastructures, involving an investment of Rs 25,000 crore in two years.
Naidu said preliminary notification issued for 2072 acres and gazetted.
Survey work for the balance 8,000 acres is almost over and preliminary notification will be issued in a week’s time.
The project required approval of 24 Central government departments and already no-objection certificates (NoCs) have been obtained from 16 different departments.
Human resource development and urban development, and environment and forest departments of the centre have made certain observations while home and railways were yet to give their views.
NoCs from eight departments would be obtained by this month end, he added.
