Mangaluru: Daijiworld sub-editor Asha Rego (49) passes away

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 24: Asha Maria Rego, who worked as sub-editor at Daijiworld Media, passed away on the night of Thursday July 22. She was 49.

Born on June 6, 1972, Asha completed her bachelors degree in science from St Agnes College.

Before joining Daijiworld in December 2014, Asha worked as a communicative English teacher at Canara School CBSE, a franchise for Trinity College, London, and as soft skills development executive for MITE, Moodbidri, and various other establishments.

A vital part of daijiworld.com's newsdesk, Asha was sincere and hard-working, and quickly proved to be an asset, handling day-to-day responsibilities with efficiency and ease.

Her untimely demise has come as a shock for her family, colleagues, friends and well-wishers.

Asha is survived by her husband and son.

The funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa at 11 am on Sunday July 25.

We at Daijiworld express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray that the Almighty gives them the strength to bear with the irreparable loss.

Our dear Anand and Anil, News of Asha's passing, at such a young age, has touched us deeply. How dark must your valley be now. We send you warm hugs and an assurance of our prayers for Asha, who is now with your parents for eternity, as well as for you who are left to mourn. Our paths crossed in the early '70's in Zambia. How thrilled your parents were when little princess Asha was born. Our journeys subsequently took us on different routes (different continents) and communication became sporadic - but the Mascarenhas family has always remained a big part of our joyful memories. Our stay at Pavanji in the '80's is an unforgettable experience. Thankfully, our faith is the anchor that grounds us - the promise that we will be together again in eternal life. May your tears soon turn to smiles as memories of happier times keep alive the spirits of your dear ones gone home to the Lord: your parents (Gus and Mabel), your wife (Meera) and now Asha. These are now your intercessors. With deepest sympathy, Clary & Nita Rodrigues, Sadira/Simon, and Dilip

I am sad about the untimely demise of Asha (what an optimistic name!) I have been welcomed by her on my numerous visits to Daiji office without taking her attention off her work. All that I can do now is to endorse the sentiments of her co-admirers like me – Geralyn Pinto, Patsy and Derek Lobo and Suresh Padiar. Also condolences to Daiji elders – Waltiebab and Melwynbab - and the bereaved family.

Dear Family, Please accept my deep and sincere condolences on the passing away of our former student, Asha. I got to know her quite well when she submitted a poem to the College Magazine of which I was serving as the editor at the time. I was struck by her poem which spoke of the African country in which she had spent her childhood, and gladly accepted it for publication. She was sweet and good natured about my editorial comments and suggestions and it was very pleasant to interact with her. I never forgot her or the poem. The news of her passing away has left me shocked and filled me with more pain than I can express. May her dear soul Rest in Christ. May Our Lord grant solace and strength to her husband and son, to her brother, Anand whom I have met, and to all the other members of her family. Love and Prayers

An angel on earth has flown to be the angel in heaven! Asha was very dear to us and considered us as her second parents. We loved her for her sincerity, kindness in thoughts and actions, caring nature, her values and principles, her abiding faith, her devotion to work and her unstinted love for her son Zidane who we hope will fulfill her dreams for him. Dear Zidane - Mum was very proud of you and immensely loved you. Be assured that she will continue to hold your hand and shower blessings on you. Farewell our dear Asha; you will always have a special place in our hearts - Patsy & Derek Lobo

My heartfelt condolences to her family and staff of Daijiworld. I wonder what took her away so early, hope it isn't due to the jabs or oft blamed seasonal viral infection. We've lost so many people from last year certainly not due to it but blamed on it. May God grant her family the strength to bear her untimely departure.

Having worked for almost seven years by the side of Asha , I admired her grit, determination, godly nature, affection and a sense of bonding she shared with everyone, and her focus on brining up her son, Zedane. While I deeply mourn her demise and fail to imagine why her life was taken away so early and suddenly, I pray to the Almighty to see that her strong wish to see her son growing up into a worthy, qualified, healthy and talented individual is granted. She deserves that boon because she has gone through a lot in life and the only focus of her life was her son.
