Bengaluru: Rains to grip state for some more days

Bengaluru, Jul 26: The meteorological department has said that there is every likelihood of the rains continuing to pound the state for a few more days.

The department has predicted good rainfall in Yadagiri, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Bidar, Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, Belagavi and Bijapur districts.

On Sunday, 36 mm rainfall was recorded in Castle Rock in Uttara Kannada district, and 41 mm in Yedur in Hosanagar in Shivamogga district. Bhagamandala in Kodagu received 39 mm rain.

At the same time, inflow of water has increased and crest gates of Tungabhadra reservoir have been opened. People living near the river have been warned to move to safer places. In the case of Almatti reservoir, even though the rainfall in the catchment areas has receded, water inflow has not come down.
