Udupi, Sep 15: T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), one of the leading B schools in India has announced the first International Conference on Accounting and Finance (ICAF 2011) to be held during March 10-12, 2011. The theme for this year is “Strategic Accounting for Control and Governance.”
ICAF seeks to provide a platform to practitioners as well as researchers for a healthy debate on the interface between accounting and governance practices. The conference seeks to explore avenues for protecting stakeholder interests by synthesizing the best practices in accounting and governance.
The conference includes technical sessions in the areas of management control, forensic accounting and fraud, earnings management, IFRS and corporate disclosures. These sessions will be delivered by international and national experts in the area. Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC, India) will be contributing their practical expertise as knowledge partners for the Conference.
“The role of accounting has evolved from merely an operational activity of reporting of financial data. Today, it is viewed as a strategic tool for management control and improving the quality of corporate governance measures thereby helping businesses sustain investor confidence. This conference seeks to further develop an appreciation of the complementary role of accounting and governance for building robust financial systems.” said Prof Vrishali Bhat, Conference chairperson.
ICAF calls for research papers on various topics like Management Control Systems, Whistle Blowing, Corporate Governance, Earnings Management, Ethics in Accounting, Electronic Crime, Role of Internal Audit, IFRS and other similar areas. Participation from industry as well as management consultants is also sought in the form case studies or experience sharing sessions. The deadline for submission of papers is October 15.
