Belagavi, Jul 28: "The Congress is not going to gain or lose whether Yediyurappa remains the state chief minister or not. But his exit has made the Congress party's return to power in 2023 a lot easier," said former chief minister and leader of the opposition, Siddaramaiah.
Addressing the people at a meeting in Khanapur town, he asserted that Congress's return to power in the state in 2023 is a foregone conclusion. He recalled that Yediyurappa, who keeps claiming that a hundred Siddaramaiahs cannot stop the forward march of the BJP, had said the same thing in 2013 but the Congress had won then. He wanted to know from Yediyurappa whether the BJP had won absolute majority in the assembly elections in the state. "I do not seek elections before they are due. However, if the BJP government crumbles under its own weight, we cannot help it," he commented.
