Govt curtailing voice of oppn in Parliament over Pegasus: Rahul

New Delhi, Jul 28 (IANS): Upping the ante against the Central government, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused it of "curtailing" the voice of opposition in Parliament and said that government has used Pegasus weapon against the people of the country.

His remarks came after a meeting of 14 opposition parties earlier in the day to chalk out a strategy to take on the government over the Pegasus tapping issue, which has snowballed into a massive political row.

The Pegasus issue has forced repeated adjournments during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Addressing the media, Rahul Gandhi said, "The entire opposition is here... our voice is being curtailed in Parliament."

He said that we are only asking if the Pegasus software was bought and if it was used against certain persons in India.

"The government has said no discussion... Why shouldn't we have a discussion on the floor of the House? (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi has put a weapon (Pegasus) and is snooping on our phones," he alleged.

Besides Rahul Gandhi, several opposition leaders from the Shiv Sena, the CPI and CPM, the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the AAP and DMK were part of the meeting.

    BJP Government is not running on principles of accountability and they do whatever they want to do in unethical ways. They don't want ethics, morals or legal ways anything!!! Whatever they do is their their fundamental right??? Since 7 plus years at the center and states they use unethical ways!!!??? Blind supporters and believers of unethical ways support them!!!??? Why don't they call SC monitored enquiry???

    Kerala, why cases are increasing? any new vaccines used (Sputnik?) or following pfizer because many might have come from western countries ?     This government does not believe in accountability to the people of India through Parliament. "Parliament is not convened only for the legislative agenda of government but it is meant to raise issues of national importance. Government is misleading the country by saying that they are ready to talk to the Opposition.". countries like France, Israel, Germany and Hungary, have ordered a probe into the Pegasus Spyware issue and strange and surprised the Modi Govt government is not ready for an enquiry over the same Same is the case of Farmers Bills and the demand for a Joint Parlimentary probe for the Rafale scam. Even France has now ordered a probe into the Rafale Deal. High time the Modi Govt follows true Democracy as the people of india will not tolerate Autocracy.

    Govt by its constitutional duty and oath is obligated to answer questions raised by the opposition in the parliament. In this case it’s regarding security, safety and privacy of all individuals. Govt can never say ‘No Discussion’. If the govt says No Discussion then it should clarify Why No Discussion while opposition have all the proof and evidence regarding this illegal and undemocratic violation of rights of citizens. Modi and Shah were talking to the public media saying people want to undermine India’s growth etc by this snooping allegations. Now why both are mum in the parliament and do not talk about India’s development rather saying No Discussion. Guilty conscience boasts only in public in monologue to hide truth.

    Boss who care about Pegasus? Some software , Its just snooping on either sides. There is nothing worth snooping in Congress. So just forget it. Public is not interested. Currently they are more into the case of Mr. Porn Kundra and Erotica Shetty.

    Why Vaccination news stopped Now ? Media Also is not interested covering real stories such as vaccine effects but Fr Stan, pegasus hacks...     Yes, all are silent on vaccination. It was 42000 cases in Kerala yesterday and day before. There are no elections nor any Melas? I remember a Mallu nurse advising Trump and Modi to follow Kerala Model . One of the main reason for UAE and other ME regions blocking Indian flights is this . There are many from Kerala in the Gelf. So precautionary measure.
