A similar incident happened at Dwaraka near Vamanjoor last year where sleeping children on the roadside of tribals were crushed. Innocent lives are being sucked at the alter of "development". No safety norms are in place. Such death traps, iron rods jutting out of half comleted concrete, gapping holes etc. one sees all over Mangalore. Any accident is responded on a case to case basis without taking corrective steps. A recent survey by HINDU rightly pointed out that " people of Mangalore are self centered, selfish, materialistic and not botherd what happens to others". Only when tragedy comes to their door step they are awakened.
