Mangalore, Sep 18: A team of the local city corporation raided four hotels and a bar located near Kadri Park in the city on Friday September 17.  The raiding team was led by the city standing committee on health, Shanta, assistant health officer, Raghunath, Honnaiah Shettigar, food inspector, Krishnappa Gowda, and Kadri ward inspector, Poovappa.

Reportedly, the officials were instructed to undertake the raid at the last minute, as otherwise there was a possibility that the hotels would have been alerted.

The team found unhygienic atmosphere in the kitchens of these hotels. However, they found cockroaches only in the bar near the park. They found that cleanliness and hygiene were not taken care at the kitchen of the bar. The kitchen was located at the place where waste was strewn around, and the staff used to walk on the waste. The team found that food items were stored in open condition in the bar.

It may be recalled that there had been a scuffle between some customers and the employees of the bar, after cockroaches were found there. Cases were registered against each other by the customers and the bar management relating to this incident, thereafter.

We don't know the name HYGIENE in our hotles, bakery and shops. Especially in the sweet shop, sweets are being taken out from the jar without using hand gloves. Officials must make it compulsory to use hand gloves in the bakery/sweet shop.Imagine, shopkeeper taking Halwa or Gulab jamoon with empty hand.
