Nine Killed in Afghan Helicopter Crash

Kabul, Sep 21 (DPA) Nine members of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) were killed Tuesday when their helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan, the ISAF said.

Another ISAF soldier, a member of the Afghan National Army and a US civilian were injured, it said.

It did not release the nationalities of the ISAF casualties, but most of the foreign soldiers in the volatile region are from the US, Britain and Canada.

There were no reports of enemy fire in the area, and the cause of the crash was being investigated, the ISAF said.

The crash was one of the deadliest incidents for the 150,000 ISAF troops in 2010.

More than 500 ISAF troops have been killed in the Afghan conflict so far this year.
