Sullia, Aug 9: Gururaj, a native of Raichur currently working as teacher of a high school run by a local educational body at Subrahmanya in the taluk stands arrested. He was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and arrested on Sunday August 8.

Gururaj reportedly used to ask the said girl student to visit him at home. He has been charged with clicking her photos by using his mobile phone. Over a period of time, he had asked her to come home several times. During these visits, he is said to have committed sexual atrocities on the girl. He then forced her to bring money, duly threatening her to expose her photographs, and got the money.

In her complaint to the police, the mother of the victim said that the teacher's wife supported these activities. The police are now questioning Gururaj.

The accused was produced before the Puttur magistrate after which he was remanded to judicial custody.
