Apex Court Moved for Deferring Ayodhya Verdict


New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) A retired bureaucrat Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking deferment of the Allahabad High Court verdict on the Babri Masjid/Ramnjamnabhoomi dispute in Ayodhya.

The apex court bench of Justices Altamas Kabir and A.K. Patnaik asked counsel Sunil K. Jain to mention the matter in the afternoon.

Ramesh Chandra Tripathi moved the apex court against the high court's Friday order, turning down his plea for deferring the final verdict in the Ayodhya dispute.

The Lucknow bench of the high court is scheduled to pronounce its verdict on the title suit Sep 24.
