Mangaluru/Udupi, Aug 10: Dakshina Kannada on Tuesday, Aug 10 reported 378 new coronavirus cases and eight deaths, while Udupi registered 91 new cases and one death.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 13,44,914 samples have been tested so far, out of which 12,41,079 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,03,835 out of which 3,332 are currently active.

As many as 359 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

The district recorded eight deaths due to coronavirus on Tuesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,477.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,01,42,017 as fine in 83,563 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 8,23,338 samples have been tested so far.

A total of 91 new cases were reported on Tuesday, taking the total number of cases to 71,036 out of which 1,242 are currently active.

A total of 137 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.

Out of 91 new patients, 76 are in home isolation while 15 are in Covid-designated hospitals.

Among the 91 cases, as many as 59 are symptomatic and 32 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 54 new cases, Kundapur registered 8 and Karkala 29.

Coronavirus has claimed 429 lives in the district so far, including one on Tuesday. The person who died on Tuesday was from Kundapura.

So far, 5,48,348 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 1,98,610 have received the second dose.

A total of 50 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far, out of which, 7 are currently active.
