Beltangady, Aug 11: The mortal remains of a 2.5-year old girl, who went missing on Tuesday August 10 from Janthigoli of Sulkeri village of the taluk, was found in the nearby rivulet.

The baby girl who died in this unfortunate incident is the daughter of Suchitra and Subhash couple. The couple were living with their daughter and father of Suchitra at Sulkeri. On Tuesday August 10 afternoon, Suchitra, mother of the child, had left the child with her father and went to a nearby farm to bring grass along with her mother. When they returned, they could not find the baby girl and started searching frantically for her.

There is a rivulet that flows at a distance of 100 meter from the house. It was suspected that the child must have gone towards the rivulet and fallen into it. Locals, fire service personnel and diving experts had searched for the body till late night of Tuesday in the rivulet. However, the mortal remains of the child were found in the rivulet on the morning of Wednesday.

Beltangady circle inspector Shivakumar, Venur assistant sub inspector Lolaksha K and personnel were present on the spot.
