Kasargod, Aug 11: T K Pookoya Thangal, key accused in the Fashion Gold Jewellery scam, surrendered at Hosadurga court on Wednesday August 11 afternoon. He is the managing director of the jewellery and has been absconding since November, 2020. He has surrendered after nine months.
Police department had issued a look out notice to nab him. Hashim, son of Pookoya, who is another accused in the case, is still at large.
Former Manjeshwar MLA M C Qamaruddin was arrested last year in connection with the case. He was released on bail earlier this year after spending 93 days in jail. Pookoya was absconding soon after the arrest of Qamaruddin. Another accused, Jainul Abeed had surrendered at the office of the SP earlier.
Qamaruddin was the president of Fashion Gold Jewellery. A case of taking deposits from 749 people and cheating after starting the business in the name of Fashion Gold International was registered. As many as 148 cases are already registered in this connection. Crime branch is probing the case.
