New Delhi, Sep 23: Pilgrims from Mangalore and Kerala are facing problems while travelling to and fro for the Haj Yatra, due to flights getting cancelled or delayed for more than 2 hours. There is a demand that the airlines take responsibility for the passengers’ food and accommodation.
MLA U T Khader during his recent visit to Delhi met external affairs minister S M Krishna and said that the people of the two states were facing problems due to the delay and cancellation of flights.
He said that the Indian embassy where only North Indian advocates are present are not showing any interest in helping South Indian travellers. Khader requested that advocates from Kerala and Karnataka be introduced at the embassy.
He also put forth the problems faced by the common man in Mangalore in preparing passports and said that proper steps need to be taken to rectify this.
Khader also thanked union civil aviation minister Praful Patel and Krishna for arranging accommodation for the Haj piligrims at old Mangalore airport and requested that direct flights from Mangalore to Saudia Arabia for Haj piligrimage be introduced.
