Mangaluru, Aug 13: Former minister and MLA U T Khader has condemned that act of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal (BD), who gheraoed and created ruckus near the house of former MLA of Ullal B M Idinabba, citing Love Jihad issue.
VHP alleged that the grandson of late Idinabba has married a girl of Bunt community from Madikeri. Her name is changed from Deepti Marla to Mariam through Love Jihad. VHP asked for a complete investigation of the family including Deepti Marla alias Mariam.
Speaking to the media on this issue, Khader said, “Who are VHP and BD to question about the girl living in Idinabba’s house? Did her parents raise a complaint in this regard with the police? This matter is left to their family. You come to my constituency of Ullal and hold a protest keeping Love Jihad as your agenda. If it is possible, you fast and bring law on Love Jihad.
“Extremist activities are not limited to Ullal alone. People of this area are living in communal harmony and love. It is not right to give a statement while the NIA is investigating the matter. The arrival of the NIA in Ullal is a matter of grave concern. Let comprehensive investigation take place in this matter. No need to play politics on this issue,” he said.
