Kundapur/ Udupi, Aug 14: Southwest Railway authority informed that the Bengaluru-Karwar (06211/12), day time train, which was partially stopped due to Covid, will start commuting again with new vistadome coach. Konkan railway gave its agreement to this move. The pressure exerted by Railway commuters’ welfare committee and passengers has borne fruit.
After the Yeshwantpur-Karwar train was stopped due to Covid, the same train was being run till Mangaluru with a new vistadome tourist coach. The commuters of Kundapur and Karwar were disappointed as they could not get the benefit of this facility. Railway commuters’ welfare committee of Kundapur and Uttara Kannada and passengers had appealed to union minister Shobha Karandlaje to extend the train till Karwar. Shobha reciprocated to the appeal and instructed the railway department accordingly.
Ganesh Puthran, president of Kundapur railway passengers’ welfare committee said, “Due to the cooperation extended by union minister Shobha Karandlaje, MP Anant Kumar Hegade, MLA of Kundapur Halady Srinivas Shetty, MLA of Kumta Dinkar Shetty and the protest by us resulted in Vista Dome train extension till Karwar.”
The train with vistadome coaches will arrive at Udupi and Kundapur on August 16. On that day there is a welcome programme to passengers at Moodlakatte railway station of Kundapur.
