Puttur, Aug 16: Police arrested three people in connection with the issue of obstruction of vehicle carrying photographs of national leaders on account of 75th Independence Day celebration at Kabaka in the taluk.

As per the complaint filed by PDO of Kabaka gram panchayat, Asha, a vehicle was arranged to convey the projects of union and state government to the public on the occasion of 75th Independence Day. This vehicle was carrying the photos of Bharat Matha and other national leaders. After honouring the ASHA workers, when the vehicle was about to start its journey, Ajiz, Naushad, Shameer, Harris, Addu, Tausif, Shafi and others tried to block the vehicle. In addition, they pushed the panchayat president and obstructed government servants from carrying out their duties. The photograph of Bharat Matha was also damaged in the process.

Based on the complaint filed by PDO Asha, police arrested K Ajiz (43), resident of of Vidyapura Mane, Kabaka village, Shameer (40), resident of Ummer, Mura Mane, Kabaka village and Abdul Rahiman (34), resident of Kodippadi Mane, Kodippadi village. They are sent to judicial custody.

    The objection was against Savarkars photo. It is a documented fact that when savarkar was in jail, he had written letters to the British asking for forgiveness and addressed himself as their Obedient Servant, which led to his release from jail. Infact it is also said that he was allegedly the mentor behind Gandhiji's murder by Godse. As such, i think it was better to have carried Tipu Sultans photo rather than Savarkar. Atleast Tipu gave his life fighting against British.
